Claude Code Training in Dubai: agentic coding on your own repositories, safely

Hitesh Motwani

Anthropic Claude Certified Trainer · Author, Generative AI 360°

Claude Code is not autocomplete. It reads your codebase, plans a change across many files, runs your tests and opens the pull request. That is a big jump in leverage, and a big jump in risk if nobody has set the rules. Teams that skip the setup get impressive demos and messy diffs; teams that do the setup get a reliable second pair of hands.

I ran a three-day Claude Code intensive for 30 engineers at Excelacom Technologies (Java, JavaScript, Python, DevOps, product and UI/UX) that ended in a working TaskMaster app built by the group. I also ran the Claude 101 and Vibe Coding workshops for Anthropic’s community in India, and a 50-hour generative AI app-building programme for HP’s ML engineers.

WHAT YOU LEARN

What your engineers learn in Claude Code training

Eight modules, practised on your own codebase or a realistic sample repo. The one-day foundations cover modules 1 to 5; the three-day intensive covers all eight.

Module 01: Setup and the agentic loop

Installing Claude Code, choosing models, and how it reads files, plans, edits, runs commands and checks results. Where it is strong and where it guesses.

Module 02: CLAUDE.md project memory

Writing the project file that tells Claude your stack, conventions, commands and no-go areas, so every session starts with the same context. Team, project and personal memory compared.

Module 03: Permission modes and safe defaults

Default, accept-edits and plan modes, allow and deny lists for commands, and why bypassing permissions is reserved for sandboxes. Settings committed to the repo so the whole team inherits them.

Module 04: Plan mode and ticket to pull request

Turning a ticket into a reviewed plan before any code changes, then into small commits, passing tests and a pull request with a readable description.

Module 05: Reviewing AI-written code

A review checklist for AI diffs: scope creep, invented APIs, weakened tests, silent error handling and security smells. Who owns the merge, always a human.

Module 06: Hooks, slash commands and skills

Hooks that run formatters, linters and tests automatically, custom slash commands for repeat tasks, and skills that package your team's know-how.

Module 07: Subagents and MCP

Delegating research, testing and review to subagents, and connecting MCP servers for your issue tracker, docs or databases with the least access needed.

Module 08: Headless mode and CI

Running Claude Code non-interactively in pipelines for triage, test generation and review comments, with logs, limits and a human approval step.

HANDS-ON, NOT A DEMO

What a hands-on Claude Code day in Dubai looks like

Engineers work in their own environment from the first hour. We set the guardrails first, then take real tickets from plan to merged pull request, and finish by measuring what changed.

BEFORE AND AFTER

What changes in an engineering team's week

Patterns from Claude Code workshops. The gains come from setup and habits, not from typing less.

TaskBeforeAfter
Onboarding to a codebaseNew joiners spend weeks finding their way around a legacy service. They ask Claude Code to map the modules, trace a request and explain decisions, guided by the team’s CLAUDE.md.
Ticket to pull requestSmall tickets wait days because nobody has time to start them.Plan mode produces a reviewed plan, then small commits and a pull request a human reviews and merges.
Tests and coverageTests are written last, if at all.Claude writes tests first from the acceptance criteria, and a hook refuses changes that break the suite.
Refactoring and upgradesFramework and library upgrades are postponed for quarters.Subagents work through the upgrade module by module while engineers review each step.
Code review loadSenior engineers are the bottleneck for every review.A headless review pass flags issues first, so human reviewers spend time on design and risk.
DocumentationREADMEs and runbooks are out of date.Docs are regenerated from the code and checked by the owning engineer as part of the pull request.

CLAUDE CODE IN DUBAI

Why Dubai engineering teams need training, not just licences

Buying seats is the easy part. Without a shared CLAUDE.md, agreed permission settings and a review habit, every engineer uses Claude Code differently, and the results range from brilliant to risky. Training puts the same guardrails and workflow in every terminal.

Regulation raises the stakes in Dubai. Fintechs and banks in DIFC work under the DIFC Data Protection Law No. 5 of 2020 and Regulation 10, and most other private companies under the federal PDPL (Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021). That shapes which repositories, logs and test data Claude Code may see, how secrets are kept out of context, and what is recorded.

The talent pressure is real too. The UAE is training public servants in agentic AI at scale, and private engineering teams are expected to keep pace. A structured programme gets a whole team productive in days rather than leaving each engineer to learn alone.

FAQ

Claude Code training questions

Claude Code is Anthropic’s agentic coding tool. It runs in the terminal or your IDE, reads your codebase, plans changes, edits files, runs commands and tests, and can open pull requests, all within the permissions you set.

Software engineers, QA and DevOps engineers, tech leads and engineering managers. Product and design colleagues can join the intensive, as they did at Excelacom. Business users are better served by Claude AI training.

CLAUDE.md is a project memory file that Claude Code reads at the start of every session. It holds your stack, conventions, commands and rules, so the tool behaves consistently for everyone on the team.

It can be, with the right setup: restrictive permission settings, secrets kept out of context, approved MCP servers only, logged headless runs and human review on every merge. The secure coding module builds this policy with your security team.

GitHub Copilot is strongest inside the editor and GitHub workflow. Codex is OpenAI’s coding agent. Claude Code works agentically across the whole repository with project memory, hooks, subagents and MCP. Many teams use more than one.

Yes, where your policy allows. Otherwise we use a realistic sample repository in your stack, so the habits transfer directly.

A two-hour leadership briefing, a one-day foundations workshop (about 7 hours), a one-day CI and automation module, a half-day secure coding session, or a three-day intensive (about 21 hours).

Configured Claude Code with a shared CLAUDE.md and permissions, taken real tickets from plan mode to pull request, added a hook and a slash command, and agreed a review checklist.

Yes. Foundations and CI modules run well online in shorter blocks. The three-day intensive works best on-site in Dubai.
