The old way
An article assistant downloads the GSTR-2B for each client, exports the purchase register from the accounting software, and matches them line by line in Excel. Mismatches go into a separate sheet, and the client gets a long email about missing invoices. For a firm with thirty clients, that is days of work every month.
With Cowork
- For one client, the GSTR-2B export and the purchase register export go into a single working folder, with the GSTIN masked where possible.
- The brief says which fields to match on (GSTIN, invoice number, date, taxable value), the tolerance for rounding, and the output format the firm uses.
- Cowork matches the two files and builds an Excel workbook: matched, in the register but not in 2B, in 2B but not in the register, and value differences.
- It drafts a short, polite note to the client listing the invoices to follow up, in the firm’s tone.
- The brief is saved as a Skill, so the next client takes one instruction instead of a fresh explanation.
The partner still reviews every exception, and nothing is filed by Cowork. It works from downloaded files only and never logs into the GST portal. What disappears is the mechanical matching.
