BEFORE YOU BOOK

How to choose a Microsoft Copilot trainer in Australia

CONTEXT

Copilot adoption in Australian workplaces

In October 2023 Microsoft announced a A$5 billion investment in Australian cloud and AI infrastructure, its largest in the country in 40 years, together with a commitment to help 300,000 more Australians build digital skills. That investment has fed steady demand for Copilot training, as organisations that bought licences look for ways to turn them into daily habits rather than occasional experiments.

Several Microsoft training partners now run one-day Copilot and Copilot Studio courses in the state capitals, with Lumify Work and Nexacu among the best known. The University of Sydney's Centre for Continuing Education adds a university-backed option, and AIM teaches prompting to managers. Training should also cover the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles, which govern how personal information is handled.

QUESTIONS

Microsoft Copilot training in Australia: FAQ

Microsoft offers Australian data centre regions, and data residency for Copilot depends on your tenant setup and Microsoft’s current commitments. Ask your Microsoft account team for the latest position. Good training explains how Copilot respects permissions, while your IT team confirms residency details.

Many agencies are exploring Copilot under federal and state AI policies, and training is often part of a controlled trial. Requirements differ by agency and jurisdiction. Check your own AI policy and security guidance, then brief trainers so exercises respect those rules.

The University of Sydney’s Centre for Continuing Education suits individuals wanting a structured one-day introduction. In-house training is better when a whole team needs to work on its own files and processes. Many organisations combine both. Compare by asking each provider for a written proposal.

Start by picking a few repeatable tasks, such as drafting proposals or summarising meetings, and record how long they take before and after training. Pair that with usage reports from the Microsoft 365 admin centre. I build this measurement into my programmes so leaders can see real results.

Costs vary with headcount, duration, delivery mode and whether Copilot Studio is included, and a Sydney classroom day is priced differently from a national virtual rollout. You will not find fixed fees from me here. Share your requirements with two or three providers listed here, then line up their written proposals with matching scope.
