Best AI Certifications in India (2026-27): Top 10 Worth Your Time

Quick answer: for most managers and non-technical professionals in India, the best AI certification is Google Cloud’s Generative AI Leader (90 minutes, US$99, valid three years). If your company runs on Microsoft 365, take Microsoft AB-730: AI Business Professional. For a vendor-neutral cloud start, AWS Certified AI Practitioner (US$100). Leaders should look at AB-731, developers at AWS Generative AI Developer – Professional. A certificate proves knowledge; using AI on your own work is a separate skill, and that is where live, hands-on training comes in.

Know the landscape

Six kinds of AI certification, and what each one proves

“AI certification” can mean a proctored vendor exam, a university certificate, a government course or a training certificate. They are not interchangeable, and employers read them differently.

TypeWhat it provesTypical costExamples

Certification vs course

A course teaches; a certification tests. Most of the credentials here are exams you prepare for yourself. If you want structured teaching first, see our guide to the best generative AI courses in India.

Business vs technical

Business-level exams (Google Generative AI Leader, AB-730, AB-731, AWS AI Practitioner) need no coding. Technical exams expect Python, cloud services and hands-on build experience. Pick the side you actually work on.

Validity matters

AWS and Google business credentials last three years. Anthropic’s last 12 months. Microsoft’s renewal rules differ by certification type, so check the certification page. Budget for renewal, not just the first exam.

The list

The 10 best AI certifications in India, entry by entry

For each credential: what it tests, who it suits, exam format, fee, validity, pros and cons, and anything to check before you book. Every fact links to its source.

1Google Cloud Certified Generative AI Leader

Google Cloud · proctored exam, online or at a test centre

Best for: managers, consultants, sales and business roles who want a respected, non-technical AI credential

This is the credential we would recommend to most professionals in India who do not write code. It tests whether you understand generative AI fundamentals, how Google’s AI offerings fit together, how to improve model output, and how to lead adoption responsibly in a business. Google says it is for any job role, with or without technical experience.

It is vendor-branded, but most of what it tests (what models can and cannot do, grounding, evaluation, responsible use, adoption strategy) carries across tools. Google’s free learning path on Google Skills covers the syllabus.

Exam90 minutes, 50–60 multiple-choice questions
FeeUS$99 registration fee, plus tax where applicable
FormatOnline proctored, or onsite at a Pearson VUE test centre
LanguagesEnglish, Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese
PrerequisitesNone

Pros

  • Business-level, no coding
  • Long validity for the price
  • Concepts carry across AI tools

Cons

  • Google-centred product questions
  • Exam in English for most Indian candidates

2Microsoft Certified: AI Business Professional (AB-730)

Microsoft · proctored exam via Pearson VUE

Best for: professionals whose company runs on Microsoft 365 and Copilot

Microsoft’s business-user certification for Copilot. It assesses generative AI fundamentals, managing prompts and chats in Microsoft 365 Copilot, creating business content and collaborating with Copilot, and driving outcomes with agents. Microsoft says candidates work “without building AI apps or writing code”.

  • Rupee price shown only at booking

3AWS Certified AI Practitioner (AIF-C01)

Amazon Web Services · proctored exam

Best for: beginners in IT, cloud, sales, product and project roles who want a foundational, widely known credential

A foundational exam covering AI and machine learning concepts, generative AI fundamentals, applications of foundation models, responsible AI, and security and governance, with AWS services as the examples. It suits people who work around cloud and AI projects rather than building models themselves.

Exam90 minutes, 65 questions
FeeUS$100 (AWS notes foreign-exchange costs may apply)
FormatPearson VUE test centre or online proctored
Valid for3 years
India tipFutureSkills Prime lists AWS certifications and offers incentive reimbursement to eligible Indian learners; check current terms

Pros

  • Well known with Indian IT employers
  • Three-year validity
  • Good bridge to AWS associate exams

Cons

  • AWS-centred
  • Less useful if your company is on Microsoft or Google

4Microsoft Certified: AI Transformation Leader (AB-731)

Microsoft · proctored exam via Pearson VUE

Best for: business decision-makers, CXOs, L&D and change leaders guiding AI adoption

The leadership counterpart to AB-730. Microsoft describes it as for “business decision-makers who guide AI transformation”, with no coding needed. Candidates should have experience leading adoption or change.

Hitesh Motwani: live generative AI training with a training certificate

Best for: teams that need people to use AI on their real work, and professionals who want live coaching alongside an exam

This is not an exam, and we list it honestly as a different kind of option. Many people pass an AI certification and still do not use AI at work, because nobody sat with them on their actual tasks. Hitesh Motwani, author of Generative AI 360°, has trained 200,000+ professionals across 16+ countries, and his corporate clients include Google, Microsoft and Tata Group.

In his sessions people bring real emails, reports, proposals, spreadsheets and decks, complete them with ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Copilot while he reviews their prompts and output, and leave with workflows they use the next morning. Time saved by a whole team compounds, and the organisation executes faster. Many teams pair this with an exam: AB-730 for Copilot users, or Google’s Generative AI Leader for managers.

Pros

  • Practice on your own tasks, with feedback
  • Covers several AI tools, not one vendor
  • Can be paired with a vendor exam

Cons

  • Not a proctored certification
  • Team fees quoted, not listed

Curriculum and certificate details are on the generative AI certification course page. Individuals can join the live AI Accelerator Program, and companies can book a generative AI trainer for teams.

Disclosure: this guide is published on Hitesh Motwani’s own site, and he is listed at number 5 as training, not as an exam. Every other entry was checked on the issuer’s page in October 2026.

6Claude Certified Architect – Foundations

Anthropic · proctored via Pearson VUE · Claude Partner Network only

Best for: people who work at a Claude Partner Network organisation and design Claude solutions for clients

Anthropic launched its first certification on 12 March 2026 alongside the Claude Partner Network. The catch for most readers: Anthropic’s eligibility page says the exams “are open to people who work at organizations in the Claude Partner Network”, and you sign in with a work email on your organisation’s partner domain. Joining the network is free for organisations, but an individual cannot book the exam on their own.

There are now four Claude certifications: Associate – Foundations (US$99), Developer – Foundations (US$125), Architect – Foundations (US$125) and Architect – Professional (US$175). Anthropic has no trainer certification.

FeeUS$125
FormatOnline proctored or test centre, booked through Pearson VUE after payment
Scoring100–1,000; 720 to pass; Credly badge
Valid for12 months
EligibilityEmployees of Claude Partner Network organisations; 18+ with government ID

Pros

  • Directly from Anthropic
  • Valued by Claude implementation partners

Cons

  • Not open to individuals outside partner firms
  • Short 12-month validity

Check before you enrol: if you are not at a partner firm, Anthropic points you to its free Claude courses and completion certificates instead; compare them in our guide to the best Claude AI courses.

7Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Fundamentals (AI-901)

Microsoft · proctored exam

Best for: technical beginners and students who want a first Microsoft AI credential

AI-901 replaced AI-900 as the exam for Azure AI Fundamentals. It is more technical than the old exam: Microsoft now expects “knowledge of Python coding syntax”. The next step for builders is AI-103, which leads to Azure AI Apps and Agents Developer Associate (a 120-minute exam); the old AI-102 Azure AI Engineer Associate is retired.

Pass mark700
FeePriced by country
Languages13
Next stepAI-103: Azure AI Apps and Agents Developer Associate, 120 minutes

Pros

  • Good first technical credential
  • Clear path to an associate exam

Cons

  • Now needs basic Python
  • Many blog posts still describe the retired AI-900 and AI-102

8AWS Certified Generative AI Developer – Professional (AIP-C01)

Amazon Web Services · proctored exam

Best for: developers with production experience who build generative AI applications

AWS’s professional-level generative AI exam, aimed at people with around two years of building production applications on AWS and about a year of hands-on generative AI work. It is one of the hardest exams on this list, and one of the most respected for developers.

Exam180 minutes, 75 questions
FeeUS$300
FormatPearson VUE test centre or online proctored
LanguagesEnglish, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese

Pros

  • Strong signal for developer roles
  • Tests real build knowledge

Cons

  • Expensive and long
  • Needs production experience

9IIT certificate programmes in generative AI

IIT Delhi (Continuing Education Programme) · IIT Bombay (with Great Learning) · live online

Best for: professionals who want an academic certificate with an IIT name, and will commit 5–6 months

These are university certificates, not exams: you earn them by completing a live, faculty-led programme. IIT Delhi’s CEP programme is graded, which gives its certificate more weight; IIT Bombay’s runs weekly live sessions over five months. We compare their syllabi in detail in our guide to the best generative AI courses; here, the point is what the credential says on your CV.

IIT Delhi CEPCertificate Programme in Generative AI: ₹1,69,000 + GST, about 86 hours over 6 months
IIT BombayCertificate in Generative AI: ₹1,80,000 + GST, 5 months online
CertificateIssued by the institute on completion (IIT Delhi requires minimum marks and attendance)

Pros

  • Respected institute names
  • Structured, faculty-led study

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Fixed schedules; batches fill and close

Check before you enrol: batch dates change often; IIT Bombay’s October batch had closed when we checked.

10YUVA AI for ALL (Government of India)

MeitY, under the IndiaAI Mission · free, self-paced

By role

Which AI certification fits your role?

People search for “the best AI certification for managers”, “for project managers” or “for HR”. The answer depends far more on the tools your employer uses than on the job title.

Your roleBest first certificationThen
Manager or team leadGoogle Cloud Generative AI LeaderAB-731 if you lead adoption; hands-on practice on your team’s tasks

How to choose

How to choose an AI certification that is worth the fee

Ask four questions before you pay for any exam: does my employer use this vendor, does it test what I do every day, can I actually sit it, and how long will it stay valid?

Match the vendor to your workplace

An AB-730 is worth more in a Microsoft 365 office than a Google exam, and the reverse in a Google Workspace company. If you freelance or job-hunt across employers, start vendor-neutral: Google’s Generative AI Leader or AWS AI Practitioner.

Check you are eligible

Some headline credentials are not open to everyone. Anthropic’s exams are for Claude Partner Network employees, and OpenAI’s certification started in employer pilots. Read the eligibility page before you buy prep material.

Price in rupees, renewal included

Vendor fees are in US dollars or set per country, and GST may apply. Add renewal: Anthropic every year, AWS and Google every three. India’s FutureSkills Prime offers incentive reimbursement on some certifications for eligible learners; check its current terms.

The case for training alongside a certificate

A certificate tells an employer you know the concepts. It does not change how you work on Monday. In hands-on training, people bring their own emails, reports, spreadsheets and decks, finish them with AI, and get feedback on their prompts while they work. They leave with workflows they use the next morning, and the time saved compounds across the team. If that is what your team needs, tell us about it or see the AI Accelerator Program. If you would rather compare trainers than credentials, see our list of the top AI trainers in India.

A sample prep plan

A 6-week plan to pass a business-level AI certification

About three hours a week, using the issuers’ free material. It works for Google Generative AI Leader, AB-730, AB-731 and AWS AI Practitioner.

1

Week 1: Pick and book

Choose one exam from the role table. Read its official page and study guide, check eligibility, and book a date four to six weeks out so the deadline is real.

2

Weeks 2–3: Official prep

Work through the issuer’s free learning path (Microsoft Learn, Google Skills or AWS Skill Builder). Take the free practice assessment where one exists, and note weak areas.

3

Weeks 4–5: Use it on real work

Run five real tasks a week through the AI tool the exam covers. Business exams test judgement, and judgement comes from use, not flashcards.

4

Week 6: Sit the exam, then show proof

Take the exam, add the badge to LinkedIn, and write up two before/after examples of work you did faster or better with AI. Those examples persuade more than the badge.

Want a longer route from prompting to agents? Follow the free AI learning path, or brush up first with our prompt engineering course guide.

Syllabus checklist

What a good AI certification should test in 2026

Hold any exam outline against this list. A credential that still centres on 2023 tools, or ignores data protection and agents, is out of date.

TopicWhy it matters in 2026What a good exam checks
Generative AI fundamentalsExplains why models are fluent but sometimes wrongTokens, context, grounding and hallucination
Prompting and contextStill the biggest lever on output qualityStructured prompts, examples, giving the model your files
AgentsCopilot, Gemini, ChatGPT and Claude all run multi-step tasksScoping a task, permissions and reviewing each step
Responsible AI and data protectionIndia’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 covers personal data you paste or uploadWhat not to share, bias, human review
Adoption and valueLicences without usage waste moneyPicking use cases, measuring time saved, change management
Current productsExams are updated as tools changeUp-to-date names: Microsoft retired AI-102; Google’s ML exam now covers its Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform

Red flags: “globally recognised” or “government-approved” claims you cannot find on the issuer’s own site, placement or salary guarantees, and exam-dump sites. Book only through the issuer or its official test provider.

Method. In October 2026 we opened every issuer’s certification and exam page and noted the exam code, length, question count, fee, validity, eligibility and languages. Where a page did not show a detail (Microsoft shows prices per country, for example), we say so rather than guess. We ranked on recognition, what the exam actually tests, cost and who can sit it.

FAQ

AI certifications in India: questions answered

For most non-technical professionals, Google Cloud’s Generative AI Leader: a 90-minute exam for US$99, valid three years, with no coding. If your company uses Microsoft 365 Copilot, Microsoft’s AB-730 AI Business Professional is the better fit. For a cloud-neutral foundational credential, AWS Certified AI Practitioner.

Google Cloud Generative AI Leader for a business-level understanding of generative AI, or Microsoft AB-731 AI Transformation Leader if you lead AI adoption in a Microsoft organisation. Both need no coding.

AWS Certified AI Practitioner or Google Generative AI Leader give the concepts you need to run AI projects. PMI also offers a CPMAI credential for AI project management; check its current fee and requirements on PMI’s site.

From free (the Government of India’s YUVA AI for ALL) to about US$300 for professional vendor exams. Business-level exams cost about US$99–100: Google Generative AI Leader US$99, AWS AI Practitioner US$100, and Microsoft AB-730 and AB-731 US$99 in the US, priced by country elsewhere. IIT certificate programmes cost ₹1.69–1.8 lakh plus GST.

Yes. YUVA AI for ALL, under the IndiaAI Mission, is a free course of about 4.5 hours with a Government of India certificate. FutureSkills Prime also lists incentive reimbursement on some paid certifications for eligible Indian learners.

Only if you work at an organisation in the Claude Partner Network. Anthropic’s eligibility page says the exams are open to partner employees, booked with a work email on the partner domain. Others can take Anthropic’s free Claude courses and earn completion certificates.

OpenAI launched its AI Foundations certification in December 2025 through pilot programmes with employers, and offers an OpenAI Certified plugin for business ChatGPT workspaces. Availability depends on your plan and workspace settings, and OpenAI lists no public exam fee. OpenAI Academy course certificates are not OpenAI Certifications.

Microsoft’s Azure AI Fundamentals certification now uses exam AI-901, which expects basic Python. AI-102 (Azure AI Engineer Associate) is retired; its successor is AI-103, Azure AI Apps and Agents Developer Associate.

Google Generative AI Leader, Microsoft AB-730 and AWS Certified AI Practitioner all suit beginners without coding. If you want a free first step, take YUVA AI for ALL.

They help a CV get noticed, especially vendor exams that employers already know. No certification guarantees a job or a raise. What persuades hiring managers is evidence: examples of real work you did faster or better with AI.

Google Generative AI Leader and AWS AI Practitioner are valid for three years. Anthropic’s Claude certifications are valid for 12 months. Microsoft sets renewal rules by certification type; check the “renew” section on each certification page.

A course certificate shows you completed a course. A certification shows you passed a proctored exam set by the issuer. Both have value, but employers usually weigh proctored certifications more.

Hitesh offers live, hands-on generative AI training with a Skillopedia training certificate. It is training, not a proctored vendor exam. Many teams pair it with a vendor exam such as AB-730 or Google’s Generative AI Leader. Details are on the generative AI certification course page.
