Hitesh Motwani: live prompt engineering training for teams

Best for: teams who want better prompts in their real work, not just a certificate

This is live, corporate training, not a self-paced course, so it sits at number five: an individual on a budget should start with the free and low-cost courses above. It earns its place with teams. Most people already “know” prompting from a video; what they lack is practice on their own work. In Hitesh’s sessions, people bring their real emails, reports, spreadsheets and decks, write prompts for them in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Copilot, and leave with a prompt library they use the next morning. Across a team, that saved time compounds, so the organisation executes faster.

Sessions cover prompt structure, few-shot examples, role and format instructions, context engineering with Projects and Gems, checking outputs, and when to turn a good prompt into a reusable assistant. The same method sits behind this site’s free prompt libraries for business, legal drafting and Instagram.

Formats

  • Leadership briefing (half-day): what good prompting changes, risks and a rollout plan
  • Hands-on workshop (1 to 2 days): practice on your own files, with role breakouts
  • Multi-week programme: weekly sessions and a shared prompt library
  • Individuals: 1-to-1 coaching, or the live AI programme batches, which include prompt engineering and context engineering modules and a completion certificate
★★★★★
“Hitesh’s knowledge of Generative AI and prompt engineering is outstanding. His sessions helped us understand how AI tools can improve productivity and marketing performance.”
Mahesh Gawde, Marketing Manager, Pristine Infosystem
★★★★★
“The AI tools training was extremely insightful. We learned how to leverage Gemini AI, ChatGPT, and AI video tools to improve content creation and business productivity.”
Samir Seghal, CEO, advertising firm in Pune

Fees and duration

Prompt engineering course fees in India, from free to a live cohort

You do not need to spend much to learn prompting well. Here is what each budget buys, based on the fees and durations shown on provider pages in October 2026.

Is there a free prompt engineering course with a certificate by Google?

Not exactly. Google Prompting Essentials is paid on Coursera after a 7-day trial, though Coursera offers financial aid. If you need a free certificate, take Anthropic’s AI Fluency or Analytics Vidhya’s course. Google’s own Gemini exams for educators and students are free; see our Gemini certifications guide.

How long does it take?

The basics take an afternoon: most free courses run 1-2 hours. A solid foundation takes 10-20 hours (Google, IBM, Vanderbilt). Real skill comes from daily practice on your own work for a few weeks; no course replaces that.

Skills that matter now

Prompt engineering in 2026: what has changed

Many courses still teach 2023 tricks. The AI labs’ own guidance has moved on. Check that a course covers these, and practise them yourself.

Context engineering

Anthropic describes context engineering as the natural next step from prompt engineering: choosing the right instructions, files, tools and history to give the model, not just the right words. In daily work, that means Projects, Gems and well-organised source files. Anthropic, 2025

Less “think step by step”

Reasoning models plan on their own. OpenAI’s guidance says asking them to reason step by step is not needed and can even hurt; keep prompts simple and direct, and use delimiters to separate parts. OpenAI reasoning best practices

Say why, and test

Anthropic’s prompting guide recommends explaining the reason behind an instruction, using structured outputs when you need a fixed format, and defining success criteria and test cases before you tune a prompt. Claude prompting best practices

A prompt formula that works in any tool

  • Role: who the AI should act as
  • Task: exactly what you want, in one sentence
  • Context: audience, purpose and the source material
  • Format: length, structure, tone
  • Check: ask it to flag assumptions and gaps

Before and after

Before: “Write an email about the delay.”

After: “You are an account manager. Write a 120-word email to a client explaining that delivery moves from 5 to 12 November because of a supplier issue. Apologise once, give the new date, offer a call, keep a calm, confident tone. List anything you had to assume.”

How to choose

How to choose a prompt engineering course for you or your team

Four questions settle most decisions: do you need a certificate, do you code, which AI tool you use at work, and whether the goal is knowledge or better daily work.

If you are learning on your own

  • Start free with Anthropic’s AI Fluency or Analytics Vidhya
  • Want a big-brand certificate? Google Prompting Essentials, IBM or Vanderbilt
  • Developers: DeepLearning.AI’s short course, then the vendors’ own docs
  • Practise on one real task every day and save the prompts that work

If you are buying for a team

  • Generic courses build awareness; they rarely change daily habits
  • Look for practice on the team’s own work, in the tools you have licensed
  • Ask for role-based examples: finance, HR, sales and legal prompt differently
  • Agree rules for confidential data before anyone pastes it into a tool

Free or paid?

The free courses are good enough to learn the techniques. Pay for structure and deadlines, a stronger certificate, or a trainer who reviews your real prompts.

Is a certificate worth it?

A certificate helps on a CV, especially for freshers. It does not guarantee a job or a salary. A portfolio of prompts and before-and-after examples from real work says more about your skill.

Is “prompt engineer” still a job?

Prompting is now a skill inside most jobs rather than a job title on its own. That is why the best courses teach it alongside your work, and why teams benefit from training on their own tasks.

If you would rather hire a trainer than take a course, see our list of AI trainers in India, or ask about a session for your team.

Prompt engineering courses in India: questions answered

For most beginners, Google Prompting Essentials on Coursera: short, practical and made by Google. If you want a free certificate, Anthropic’s AI Fluency course. For depth, Vanderbilt’s Prompt Engineering for ChatGPT. Among Indian providers, Analytics Vidhya has a free course with a certificate and HCL GUVI charges ₹799.

From free to about ₹50,000. Several good courses are free with a certificate (Anthropic, Analytics Vidhya, Simplilearn SkillUp). HCL GUVI charges ₹799. Coursera courses from Google, IBM and Vanderbilt need a subscription or a paid certificate, priced by country. Simplilearn’s live AI Accelerator programme is ₹50,000 including taxes.

Yes. Anthropic’s AI Fluency: Framework & Foundations is free with a certificate of completion. Analytics Vidhya’s Building LLM Applications using Prompt Engineering is free with a certificate, and Simplilearn’s SkillUp course is free with a certificate and 90 days’ access. Microsoft Learn’s module is free and adds an achievement to your profile.

Google Prompting Essentials is Google’s prompt engineering course, but it is paid on Coursera after a 7-day free trial, with financial aid available. Google’s free Gemini certification exams are for educators and students rather than a prompting course.

Most free courses take 1-2 hours. Google Prompting Essentials takes a few hours, IBM’s course about 9 hours and Vanderbilt’s about 18 hours. Live programmes such as Simplilearn’s run for around 8 weeks of weekend classes. Becoming good takes a few weeks of daily practice on real work.

No. Most courses on this list need no coding: Google, Anthropic, Vanderbilt, IBM, HCL GUVI and Microsoft Learn are all for non-coders. DeepLearning.AI’s course and parts of Analytics Vidhya’s use Python and an API, which helps if you want to build AI into software.

Yes, but it has changed. Newer reasoning models need fewer tricks, and the skill has grown into context engineering: giving the AI the right instructions, files and examples. People who prompt well get much better results from the same tools, which is why it matters in almost every job.

We do not publish salary figures, because they vary widely and are rarely verifiable. Prompting is now more often a skill inside roles such as analyst, marketer, developer or consultant than a separate job title. No course can guarantee a job or a salary.

Vanderbilt’s Prompt Engineering for ChatGPT on Coursera is the deepest. Developers should take DeepLearning.AI’s ChatGPT Prompt Engineering for Developers. For ChatGPT-specific courses beyond prompting, see our guide to ChatGPT courses in India.

Prompt engineering is about the words of your request. Context engineering is about everything the model sees: instructions, examples, files, tools and earlier conversation. Anthropic describes context engineering as the natural progression of prompt engineering, and tools such as Projects and Gems are context engineering for everyday users.

Yes. Simplilearn runs a live weekend programme, the AI Accelerator Program, which starts with prompt engineering. For teams, Hitesh Motwani runs live, hands-on prompt engineering training online and onsite, on the team’s own work; individuals can join his live AI programme batches.

The online courses on this list work from anywhere, including the UAE. For teams in Dubai, Hitesh Motwani runs prompt engineering training in Dubai.
