Four routes

University, edtech, free or hands-on: which route suits you?

Most agentic AI courses in India fall into one of four groups. They differ less in syllabus than in fee, time and how much feedback you get on your own builds.

IIT and IIIT programmes (entries 1-4, 6)

  • 5 to 8 months of live weekend or evening classes
  • ₹1.4 to 2.1 lakh including GST
  • A university certificate and a capstone project
  • Most expect Python and some work experience

Indian edtech (entry 7)

  • Lower fees, mostly self-paced with mentorship
  • Broad framework coverage and many projects
  • The certificate carries less weight than an IIT name

Global certificates and free courses (entries 8-10)

  • Free or a monthly subscription
  • Excellent content from IBM, Andrew Ng and Hugging Face
  • You need discipline: nobody checks your progress

Live training for teams (entry 5)

  • Days, not months
  • Built around your processes and tools
  • Business teams can build no-code agents; engineers build and test real ones
The list

Top 10 agentic AI courses in India for working professionals

Each entry covers what you learn, who it suits, pros and cons, fee and certificate, with a link to the source page. University programmes come first because they are what most working professionals in India compare; lower-cost and free options follow.

Hitesh Motwani: live agentic AI training for teams

Best for: teams who want agents working on their own processes, not just a certificate

This is live, corporate training, not a university course, and it sits at number five: an individual who wants a career credential should look at the IIT programmes above. It earns its place with teams. Most companies do not need everyone to learn LangGraph; they need the right people to turn real, repetitive work into agents that are safe to run. In Hitesh’s sessions, people pick tasks from their own week, build an agent in the session and leave with something they use the next morning. Across a team, that saved time compounds, so the organisation executes faster.

There are two tracks. The business track needs no code: Gems, Claude Projects and Copilot Studio agents, connected to your files with the right permissions, plus no-code workflow tools such as n8n. The technical track covers tool use and function calling, MCP servers, multi-agent patterns, evaluation with test sets and tracing, and security, including prompt injection and approval steps.

Formats

  • Business teams (1 to 2 days): no-code agents built on your own processes
  • Technical teams (2 to 3 days, or a multi-week build programme): agents taken to production standard
  • Leaders (half-day): where agents pay off, risk, governance and a rollout plan
  • Individuals: 1-to-1 coaching, or the AI Agents module in the live AI programme batches

Cost: quoted per engagement. Certificate: this is training, not a university certificate. Disclosure: this guide is published on Hitesh Motwani’s own site.

Ask before you pay

  • When does the next batch start, and is there a deadline?
  • Are classes live, recorded, or both?
  • Who teaches: university faculty or partner mentors?
  • What does the certificate say, and who issues it?

Ways to cut the cost

  • Ask your employer: many L&D budgets cover IIT executive programmes
  • Start with the free courses (entries 9-10) to check you enjoy the work
  • Use EMI options where offered
  • Coursera offers financial aid on some programmes
Skills checklist

What a good agentic AI course should cover in 2026

Agentic AI moves fast, and many courses still stop at a chatbot with one tool. Use this checklist to judge any syllabus, including the ones above.

Build

  • Tool use and function calling
  • The Model Context Protocol (MCP) to connect agents to real systems
  • RAG and memory
  • Single-agent vs multi-agent designs, and when each is right

Prove it works

  • Evaluation: test sets and success criteria
  • Tracing and error analysis
  • Cost and latency control
  • A capstone on a realistic task, not a toy demo

Keep it safe

  • Prompt injection and how to defend against it
  • Least-privilege permissions
  • Human approval steps for risky actions
  • Logging, and personal-data rules such as India’s DPDP Act

No-code or code?

You do not need to code to build useful agents. Business users can do a lot with Gems, Claude Projects, Copilot Studio and n8n. Coding matters when agents must connect to internal systems, run at scale or pass a security review. Choose a course that matches the work you will actually do.

Frameworks change; ideas last

LangGraph, CrewAI and AutoGen will keep changing. A course that teaches the patterns behind them (reflection, planning, tool use, evaluation) will still be useful when the framework you learned has moved on.

How to choose

How to choose an agentic AI course when you already have a job

Four questions settle most decisions: can you code, how many hours a week you can give for months, whether the certificate matters to your employer, and whether you are learning for yourself or for a team.

If you are learning for your career

  • Try a free course first (entries 9-10) to see whether you enjoy building agents
  • If you code and want a strong name, compare IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi and IIT Kharagpur
  • If you do not code, look at the IITM Pravartak strategy track
  • Check the batch date and weekly hours against your work calendar

If you are buying for a team

  • Long university programmes suit a few future specialists, not whole teams
  • Look for practice on your own processes, data and tools
  • Insist on safety: permissions, approvals and prompt-injection testing
  • Ask for a business track and a technical track

Free or paid?

The free courses from DeepLearning.AI and Hugging Face are excellent. Pay for what they lack: deadlines, feedback, a capstone reviewed by faculty, or a certificate your employer recognises.

Is an IIT certificate worth it?

It is a strong signal on a CV and in an appraisal, and the live classes keep you on track. It is not a guarantee of a job or a raise; what you build during the course is the real proof.

The case for live team training

Agents pay off on small, repeated tasks: matching invoices, drafting account briefs, triaging tickets. Teams get there faster when a trainer helps them pick the right tasks and build on their own work.

If you would rather hire a trainer than take a course, see our separate list of agentic AI trainers in India, or ask about a session for your team.

Sample learning path

An 8-week agentic AI starter path before you commit lakhs

About three hours a week. Everything here is free, and it tells you which paid programme, if any, is worth it for you.

1

Weeks 1-2: How agents think

Start the free Hugging Face course or Andrew Ng’s Agentic AI. Learn the loop: a goal, tools, observations and a stop condition.

2

Weeks 3-4: Build one useful agent

Pick one repetitive task from your own week. Build it no-code first (a Gem, a Claude Project or n8n), then write down where it fails.

3

Weeks 5-6: Tools, MCP and evaluation

If you code, connect an MCP server and write ten test cases. If you do not, add approval steps and a checklist for checking outputs.

4

Weeks 7-8: Decide on a programme

You now know whether you enjoy this work. Choose a longer programme from the list, or bring live training to your team.

FAQ

Agentic AI courses in India: questions answered

For working professionals who code, IIT Bombay’s Certificate in Agentic AI is the strongest agent-specific programme we found: five months of live classes with IIT Bombay faculty, covering MCP, LangGraph, CrewAI, evaluation and guardrails, for ₹1,80,000 plus GST. IIT Delhi and IITM Pravartak are close alternatives at a lower fee. On a budget, IBM’s certificate on Coursera and the free Hugging Face course are the best value.

Yes. IIT Bombay’s Department of Computer Science and Engineering offers a Certificate in Agentic AI, delivered online with Great Learning. It runs for 5 months with live sessions by IIT Bombay faculty, about 4-6 hours a week, with an optional one-day campus immersion. The fee shown is ₹1,80,000 plus 18% GST, and applicants need two years of relevant experience and prior programming exposure.

It ranges from free to about ₹2.1 lakh. IIT programmes cost ₹1.4 to 2.1 lakh including GST; Analytics Vidhya’s programme is ₹69,999 including taxes; IBM’s Coursera certificate is a monthly subscription; Hugging Face’s course is free with a free certificate; and DeepLearning.AI’s course is free to audit, with the certificate on its Pro plan.

Yes. Hugging Face’s AI Agents Course is free and gives free certificates for the fundamentals unit and for full completion. Anthropic’s free Building with the Claude API course also ends with a completion certificate and covers tool use, MCP and agents. DeepLearning.AI’s Agentic AI course is free to watch, but the certificate needs a paid Pro membership.

Yes, for business use. You can build useful agents with Gemini Gems, Claude Projects, Microsoft Copilot Studio and no-code tools such as n8n and Make. IITM Pravartak’s programme has a strategy track built on no-code tools. To connect agents to internal systems or run them at scale, you will need code or an engineering team.

You can understand the basics and build a first no-code agent in a few weeks of part-time study. University programmes run 5 to 8 months at 3 to 10 hours a week. Becoming good at production agents takes longer and comes from building and testing real ones.

Courses with a fixed weekly slot and live classes suit people with full-time jobs best. IIT Delhi’s programme runs on Saturday afternoons; IIT Bombay’s takes about 4-6 hours a week; IIT Kharagpur’s has 3 hours of live class a week with recordings. If your weeks are unpredictable, a self-paced option such as IBM’s certificate is easier to fit in.

Tool use and function calling, the Model Context Protocol (MCP), RAG and memory, multi-agent design, evaluation with test sets and tracing, and safety: prompt injection, permissions, human approval steps and logging. Be wary of a course that stops at a chatbot with one tool.

A generative AI course teaches you to use and build with models that produce text, images and code. An agentic AI course goes further: systems that plan steps, call tools, check results and keep going until a task is done. Many programmes, such as IIT Kharagpur’s, cover both.

Some edtech programmes mention career support; the IIT Delhi page states that it offers no placement support. No course can guarantee a job or a salary. Treat the projects you build during the course as your main proof of skill.

Several mention it: IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi and IITM Pravartak list MCP in their syllabus, as do IBM’s certificate and Andrew Ng’s course. Analytics Vidhya’s page did not mention it when we checked. MCP is now a standard way to connect agents to real tools and data, so it is worth looking for.

For a team, a short, live programme built around your own processes usually beats sending people on long university courses. Look for a no-code business track, a technical track for engineers, and safety built in. Hitesh Motwani runs agentic AI training for teams online and onsite in India and the UAE.
