Best AI Courses for Working Professionals in India (2026-27): Top 10 by Time Budget

Quick answer: the best AI course for a working professional is the one you will finish around your job. If you have a weekend, take Microsoft’s free AB-730 preparation and its ₹3,691 exam, or AWS’s AI Practitioner. If you have four or five months at four to five hours a week, IIM Kozhikode’s no-code Agentic AI for Leaders (₹1,40,000 plus GST) or IIIT Bangalore’s Generative AI for Leaders fit best. If you can give a year, IIT Delhi’s Sunday-only Applied Data Science and AI certificate (₹1,94,000 plus GST, from 14 November 2026) is the strongest technical pick. Teams get more from live training on their own work.

The 10 best AI courses for working professionals, by the time they take

Most lists rank AI courses by brand. People with full-time jobs drop out for a different reason: the course needed more hours than they had. So this list is organised by time budget first, then by fit. Fees, weekly loads and dates were checked on each provider’s own page in October 2026.

Three time budgets

A weekend, a few months or a year: pick your band before your brand

Be honest about your calendar. Quarter-ends, appraisals, travel and family all eat into study time, so plan for the hours you will have in your worst month, not your best.

A weekend (entries 1-4)

  • Under about 20 hours in total
  • A vendor credential or one focused skill
  • Best when you need a quick, visible win at work
  • Free or under ₹10,000, except live training

Two to five months (entries 5-7)

  • About 4-10 hours a week
  • An IIM or IIIT certificate, or a solid technical foundation
  • Best for managers building an AI plan for their function
  • Free to ₹2.3 lakh

Six to twelve months (entries 8-10)

  • 3-10 hours a week, every week
  • A programme with projects and a capstone
  • Best for a career move into AI-heavy roles
  • ₹1.6 lakh to ₹3.3 lakh with GST
The list

Top 10 AI courses for working professionals, band by band

Entries 1 to 4 fit in a weekend or a few days; 5 to 7 take two to five months; 8 to 10 run six to twelve months. Each entry covers what you learn, who it suits, pros and watch-outs, weekly load, fee and certificate, with a link to the provider’s own page.

Band 1: a weekend or a few days

1

Microsoft Certified: AI Business Professional (exam AB-730)

A weekendFree prepNo coding
Best for: professionals whose company uses Microsoft 365 Copilot and who want a recognised credential fast

A beginner-level Microsoft certification for business users, not developers. Preparation is free on Microsoft Learn: two learning paths of about seven hours in total, followed by a 45-minute proctored exam through Pearson VUE.

What you learn

  • Generative AI fundamentals
  • Managing prompts and chats in Microsoft 365 Copilot
  • Managing business content and collaboration with Copilot
  • Driving business outcomes with agents

Pros

  • The cheapest recognised credential on this list
  • Directly useful from Monday if your company runs Copilot

Watch out for

  • Tied to Microsoft’s tools
  • Much less useful if your workplace has no Copilot licence

Format: free self-paced prep (learning paths of 2 hr 20 min and 4 hr 30 min), then a 45-minute exam. Fee: prep free; the exam showed ₹3,691 with India selected (price depends on the country where it is proctored). Credential: Microsoft Certified: AI Business Professional.

  • Business use cases for AI and generative AI
  • The AWS AI services that support them

Pros

  • Global recognition and a three-year validity
  • Free official preparation material

Watch out for

  • AWS-specific
  • Costs more than AB-730 in rupees

3

DeepLearning.AI: Agentic AI (Andrew Ng)

A weekendSelf-pacedPython
Best for: working developers and analysts who want the core agent design patterns in about ten hours

Hitesh Motwani: live AI training for people with full-time jobs

Best for: teams, and busy individuals who want results this week rather than a certificate next year

This is live training, not a self-paced course or an institute certificate, and it sits at number four. If you need a credential for your CV, entries 1, 2 and 5 to 10 are the better answer. Where live training wins is time: in half a day to three days, people bring their own emails, reports, spreadsheets and decks, build the workflow in the session and use it the next morning. For a team, those saved hours compound, so the organisation executes faster.

Sessions cover ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot and Gemini, prompt writing for real work, Claude Cowork and AI agents, adapted to the roles in the room. Teams can run them online across cities, or on-site by arrangement; individuals can choose 1-to-1 coaching or a live batch.

Formats

Cost: quoted per engagement. Certificate: this is training, not an institute certificate. Disclosure: this guide is published on Hitesh Motwani’s own site.

Band 2: two to five months

For teams

Want AI working in your team’s day jobs, without months of coursework?

Tell us your team size, roles and the work you want AI to help with. Hitesh will suggest a format that fits around delivery deadlines: a hands-on team day, a leadership briefing or a short multi-week programme, online or on-site.

  • Managers and team leads: status reports, reviews and planning documents
  • Analysts and finance: spreadsheets, reconciliations and commentary
  • Sales, HR and operations: emails, decks, policies and summaries
  • Prefer to talk first? Book a free 30-minute call or WhatsApp Hitesh’s team
The real time cost

How many hours each course actually asks of you

Weekly load times weeks gives a rough total, which is a better way to compare than the number of months on a brochure. Totals are our arithmetic from the providers’ stated loads. IIIT Bangalore does not state a weekly load, so it is not in the table.

A fixed slot or self-paced?

A fixed slot, such as IIT Delhi’s Sunday mornings, protects your study time from work creep. Self-paced courses fit unpredictable jobs, but completion depends entirely on you. If you have started and abandoned online courses before, choose a live slot.

Plan for your worst month

If your job has a heavy quarter-end or a travel season, map it against the course calendar before you pay. A course that needs eight hours in the week you close the books will slip. Most programmes do not refund once started.

By experience

Which AI courses suit experienced professionals?

Experience rules quietly decide a lot. Several IIM executive programmes need ten or more years of work experience, while others are open to any graduate. Check eligibility before you shortlist, using the provider’s own page.

Your experienceCourses that accept youWorth noting
Early career (0-2 years)AB-730, AWS AI Practitioner, DeepLearning.AI Agentic AI, Stanford ML Specialization, IIIT-B GenAI for Leaders, IIM Indore, UT Austin PGPNo experience bar is stated for these; employers value a project more than a certificate at this stage
Mid-career (3-9 years)Everything above, plus IIT Delhi CEP (graduates; technical background preferred) and IIM Lucknow (2+ years)The sweet spot for a 6-12 month programme with a capstone
Senior (10+ years)Everything above, plus IIM Kozhikode Agentic AI for Leaders and ISB Leadership with AI (both 10+ years)Leadership programmes focus on strategy and governance, not code

Getting your employer to pay

Tie the course to a business problem your manager already cares about, name the hours you will save or the project you will deliver, and offer to share what you learn with the team. A one-page note works better than a brochure.

Certificate or skill?

A certificate gets you past a filter; a working example of AI on a real problem gets you the role or the promotion. The best courses give you both: a capstone you can show, and a credential to list.

Technical or not?

If you do not code and do not want to, choose entries 1, 5, 6 or 9. If you code or want to, entries 3, 7, 8 and 10 will stretch you, and AWS sits in between.

What to look for

What an AI course for professionals should teach in 2026

For someone with a job, the test of a course is simple: will you do part of your work differently the week after a module? Look for these three things in any syllabus.

Work tasks, not toy demos

  • Exercises on documents, data and emails like yours
  • Prompting with role, context, examples and format
  • Comparing ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot and Gemini on the same task
  • Checking and correcting AI output before it is used

Agents and automation

  • What an AI agent is and when not to use one
  • Tool use, MCP and connecting to business systems
  • No-code automation for repetitive steps
  • Human approval before an agent acts

Judgement and safety

  • Which data must never be pasted into a tool
  • India’s DPDP Act and your company’s AI policy
  • Bias, hallucinations and accountability
  • A capstone tied to a real business outcome
How to choose

How to choose an AI course alongside a full-time job

Answer three questions in this order: how many hours a week you can protect, whether you need a credential or a skill, and whether you are learning alone or with your team.

If you are choosing for yourself

  • Need a quick win at work: AB-730 or AWS AI Practitioner this month
  • Leading a function: IIM Kozhikode, IIIT-B or IIM Indore
  • Building technical depth: IIT Delhi CEP or UT Austin
  • Unsure: follow the 90-day plan below before paying

If you are choosing for a team

  • Long programmes suit two or three future specialists, not the whole team
  • Everyone else needs practice on their own tasks, fast
  • Agree data rules before anyone pastes client material into a tool
  • Measure hours saved on real tasks after 30 days

Online or classroom?

Every course here is online, which is why they work for people with jobs. If you want a city classroom, see our guides to AI courses in Mumbai and AI courses in Bangalore.

Free or paid?

Free courses teach the concepts well; paid programmes add structure, deadlines, feedback and a capstone. Many people do a free course first, then pay once they know the direction. See our free AI courses with a certificate.

The case for live training

Most professionals do not need another long course; they need two or three AI workflows that work on their own tasks. A live, hands-on session gets there in days, and teams keep momentum because they learn together.

A 90-day plan

A 90-day AI plan for people who already work 50-hour weeks

Two to three hours a week, mostly free. By day 90 you will know whether a long programme is worth your money and your evenings.

1

Days 1-14: Fix one weekly task

Choose the task you dread every week, such as a status report or a meeting summary, and redo it with an AI assistant three times until the output is usable with light edits.

2

Days 15-30: Earn a quick credential

Take the free AB-730 preparation or AWS Skill Builder prep and sit the exam. It gives structure to what you have been practising and something to show your manager.

3

Days 31-60: Try an agent

Learn the agent patterns in a short course, then automate one multi-step job, such as collecting data from three sources into a weekly summary, with a human check at the end.

4

Days 61-90: Commit or scale

Decide whether you need a 6-12 month programme for a career move, or whether your team needs the same skills. Then enrol, or bring live training in for everyone.

FAQ

AI courses for working professionals: questions answered

It depends on your time. With a weekend, Microsoft’s AB-730 (free preparation, ₹3,691 exam) or AWS Certified AI Practitioner is the fastest recognised credential. With four or five months, IIM Kozhikode’s Agentic AI for Leaders or IIIT Bangalore’s Generative AI for Leaders fits. With a year and some technical background, IIT Delhi’s Sunday-only Applied Data Science and AI certificate is the strongest pick.

Yes, that is what every course on this list is built for. Weekly loads range from self-paced to 8-10 hours, and several have fixed weekend slots, such as IIT Delhi CEP on Sunday mornings. Plan around the hours you will have in your busiest month.

Yes. Microsoft Learn’s AB-730 preparation is free, AWS Skill Builder has free AI Practitioner prep, and DeepLearning.AI’s Agentic AI can be audited free. The certificates or exams usually cost extra. Our guide to free AI courses with a certificate lists more.

Professionals with ten or more years can consider leadership programmes such as IIM Kozhikode’s Agentic AI for Leaders (17 weeks, ₹1,40,000 plus GST) or ISB Online’s Leadership with AI. They focus on strategy, governance and redesigning work rather than coding. For senior leaders responsible for enterprise AI, see our Chief AI Officer courses guide.

For developers, DeepLearning.AI’s Agentic AI by Andrew Ng teaches the core patterns in about ten hours. For non-technical leaders, IIM Kozhikode’s Agentic AI for Leaders uses no-code tools such as Claude and n8n. Our agentic AI courses in India guide compares IIT programmes too.

IIT Delhi’s Continuing Education Programme runs the eight-month Certificate Programme in Applied Data Science and AI, with Sunday classes from 14 November 2026 (₹1,94,000 plus GST, apply by 31 October). IIT Madras’s BS in Data Science also enrols many working professionals part-time.

Leadership programmes typically ask for 4-6 hours a week; technical programmes 8-10. Short certifications need about a weekend of preparation. Multiply weekly hours by weeks to compare total effort, as in our table above.

Yes. AB-730, IIM Kozhikode’s Agentic AI for Leaders, IIIT Bangalore’s Generative AI for Leaders and IIM Indore’s programme all need no coding. Most day-to-day AI use at work, with ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot or Gemini, needs no code at all.

It helps when it matches the tools your employer uses, for example AB-730 for a Microsoft 365 Copilot workplace or AWS AI Practitioner for an AWS shop. A certificate does not guarantee a promotion or a job; showing a real piece of work you improved with AI usually counts for more.

Yes. IIT Delhi CEP meets on Sundays, IIM Lucknow’s AI for Business on weekends, IIM Tiruchirappalli’s AI for Leaders on Saturday evenings, and UT Austin’s programme has weekend mentor sessions. Self-paced certifications can also be done entirely at weekends.

From free (Microsoft and AWS preparation) and a few thousand rupees for exams, to ₹1.4-2.25 lakh for four-to-five-month IIM and IIIT programmes and ₹1.6-3.6 lakh for year-long programmes, plus GST where the provider shows it separately.

For two or three future specialists, a structured programme makes sense. For the rest of the team, live, hands-on training on their own work gets AI into daily tasks in days rather than months. Hitesh Motwani runs corporate AI training programmes and generative AI training online for teams.

Next step
